When using our white speculum some colposcopists have pointed out that their view is somewhat overlit.
We have received feedback from some colposcopists regarding the challenge of over-illumination when using a white speculum. While the increased light can be initially overwhelming, the reflective surface of the white speculum actually enhances illumination and provides a broader color spectrum, making the procedure easier and more effective.
Additionally, some have reported that the image can appear too dark. This darker image is caused by the automatic adjustment of the brightness on the digital display of the colposcope, which dims the brightness due to the increased reflective light from the white speculum.
If you encounter these issues, here are a few suggestions:
-
Zoom in on the Target Zone: To address the issue of the white speculum appearing too bright or causing the image to darken on the screen, try zooming in more on the target area. This will crop out more of the white speculum from the view, eliminating the problem and allowing for a more natural view of the tissue.
-
Adjust Digital Screen Settings: If you're using a colposcope with a digital screen, you may need to adjust the settings to better accommodate the increased light. This is a one-time adjustment that won't need to be repeated if you continue to use the white speculum.
We hope these tips help improve your colposcopy experience. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or need additional support.
